CAROL PROUD

Carol is a new resident just outside of Chiloquin on the beautiful Williamson River. Carol works in ceramics. She does wheel-thrown pottery - altered and decorated, often with sgraffito. She loves playing with the mud texture as she begins her pottery. She has dabbled in many different art forms over the years - lapidary, silver smithing, stained glass, quilting, photography, finally settling on clay. She finds the whole ceramic process challenging from a technical perspective. Surprisingly, Carol says, “to have any  emblance of control and the process you need to understand the physics and chemistry involved. No matter how much technical expertise you have, there’s always an element of unpredictability and magic in the results.” Her inspiration comes from anywhere - mother nature, music, dreams, other artist’s work, etc. She says, "I can’t identify one source as more important than any other." Carol chose the Two Rivers Art Gallery because of the close location to her home. She has become a valuable volunteer at the Gallery. She believes it is a great way to meet the public as a newcomer and have fun doing it.
